Keep Pickens Beautiful held their annual Appreciation Dinner, January 9, 2018 at The Last Catch. The dinner is an opportunity to show our appreciation for our volunteers, who help KPB reach the goals of a clean and safe environment for the citizens of Pickens County.
Bart Connelly, director of our Adopt A Road Program presented Stan Barnett, with the Elaine Thomason Award for his outstanding work in our Adopt A Road Program for the past 10 years. Elaine Thomason lived in the Hinton community on Hwy 53, and was a huge advocate for keeping the roads clean, even before we had the Adopt A Road Program. When the AAR program was put in place by the CCC Board, the award was named after Ms. Thomason, for her dedication to Litter reduction on our highways.
Mr. Barnett has also served on the Board of Directors for many years in several different positions.
Pickens County Commissioner Rob Jones, Johnny Weaver, Mayor of Jasper and Randy Banks, Mayor of Talking Rock and Dan Poole, Pickens Progress, where also present, our thanks to them for all the help they give KPB during the year.
Officers for 2018 were introduced, President, Mary Ann Rentz, Vice President, Robert Morgan and Joan Britten, Secretary/Treasurer. KPB is looking forward to another year of growth and opportunities to make a difference in our county.
