Stanley Barnett born December 4, 1934 passed peacefully on January 13, 2020. Stan, as he was affectionately known by his family, was a quiet man of service. He was kind, compassionate and wise man, who loved life and loved bringing joy to others.Stan served his Lord and community here in Jasper for over 20 years. Stan was a board member with Keep Pickens Beautiful for 20 years, where he served many rolls, gave wise council and was willing to help where needed. We are very grateful to him, he will be missed.
Stan started a branch of Habitat for Humanity to Pickens County. To make affordable housing for those who otherwise could not afford a home of their own. Stan served there with HFH for over 20 years.
Stan taught Sunday School, had a Bible study group at a local retirement home and volunteered at the Community Thrift store for years.
He was awarded the Citizen of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce in 2011.
Stan will be missed by our whole community for his generous and loving spirit.
